BEAVER BANK:<\/strong> A redesign of the driveway entrance to Harold T. Barrett Junior High in Beaver Bank is underway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In a letter to families of students at the school, and posted by MLA Brian Wong on his Facebook page, it indicates work on the redesign is expected to be completed by early October.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Kavita Khanna, Director, Operation Services with Halifax Regional Centre for Education (HRCE), said that improvements to the driveway off Beaver Bank Road are underway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cSeveral members of the school community have expressed concerns about its current condition and the safety of those using it,\u201d Khanna said in the letter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”72″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”31″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n Khanna said the HRCE Operations Services team is working closely with the engineering consultants to finalize the redesign plan for the driveway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThis area will be paved once the new design is complete,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n She explained in the letter that the redesign is a necessary step.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIt is necessary to help prevent future issues with the driveway and create a more permanent solution,\u201d said Khanna. \u201cThis has changed the scope of the project and our timeline.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Khanna said the work is expected to be completed by early in October.<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”95″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate group=”6″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n She said all the work will occur after hours upon school returning on Sept. 7.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe safety and well being of students and staff are top priorities for HRCE,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Khanna said HRCE appreciated the feedback sent their way regarding the driveway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWe thank the community members for bringing their concerns about this matter to our attention,\u201d said Khanna.<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”150″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”84″]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" [adrotate banner=”169″] [adrotate banner=”93″] BEAVER BANK: A redesign of the driveway entrance to Harold T.
