HALIFAX:<\/strong> The government is asking Nova Scotians to provide feedback on housing needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The online survey, which opened today, October 3, is part of a provincewide housing needs assessment that will help identify gaps in current and projected housing requirements and guide future housing policy and initiatives. [adrotate banner=”93″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”31″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n “To make good policy decisions, we need to hear directly from Nova Scotians about their experiences. “While we know there’s a housing problem in this province, the needs vary from place to place, person to person,” said Municipal Affairs and Housing Minister John Lohr.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Quick Facts:
— the provincial housing needs assessment was a recommendation from the Affordable Housing Commission report
— in April, the Province partnered with Turner Drake & Partners Ltd. to study housing needs in Nova Scotia’s 49 municipalities; the final report is expected this winter and will be available to the public
— that study also includes a needs assessment for post-secondary student housing
— Akoma Holdings was awarded a contract to complete a housing needs assessment for African Nova Scotian communities
