WINDSOR JUNCTION:<\/strong> Two local players with the Sackville U-13 AAA Flyers are looking forward to a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity by participating in the Quebec International Peewee Hockey Tournament, running Feb. 8 to Feb. 19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Landon Colp, of Fall River, and Jayden Tilman of Windsor Junction and their teammates will head to the tournament where they will suit up as the Jr. Halifax Mooseheads, representing the QMJHL\u2019s Halifax Mooseheads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Tillman, the captain and a defenceman, thinks any team in their U-13 AAA league would like to be in the position they are by attending.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIt\u2019s really cool that we are representing the Mooseheads,\u201d he told The Laker News in a recent interview. \u201cIt\u2019s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIt\u2019s really special that we get to do this.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”111″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”71″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n Following two years of restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, that makes going extra special for him and his teammates, said Tillman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Colp, 12, said he didn\u2019t put too much stock into the tournament\u2014at first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAs the trip gets closer, I\u2019m realizing how much of an opportunity this is,\u201d Colp said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He said attending the Quebec International Peewee tournament means the world to him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIf you told me two years ago that I would be going to this tournament, I would have been shocked,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Colp termed the adventure as an opportunity of a lifetime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThis has always been a dream of mine,\u201d said Colp.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n [adrotate group=”8″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”78″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n Colp and Tillman, both Grade 7 students at Georges P. Vanier Junior High, differ on their expectations for the outcome they want to see for their team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI have pretty high expectations for the tournament,\u201d Colp said. \u201cOur team has been working really hard to get ready for this tournament.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cObviously going to Quebec we would like to win, but just going is amazing,\u201d said Tillman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Colp said he and his Jr. Mooseheads teammates are excited to be attending.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWe\u2019re ready to make some amazing memories and take on teams like Ukraine and France,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”127″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”92″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n Tillman spoke of what it means to get to play\u2014and meet\u2014players on the Ukrainian team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIt\u2019s a big deal to get to play them, knowing everything that they\u2019ve been through,\u201d said Tillman.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n One thing is of upmost importance for Tillman at the tournament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI\u2019m excited to meet the Ukraine team and all the other teams,\u201d said the 12-year-old, \u201cand have fun.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”126″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”123″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”188″]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" [adrotate banner=”84″] [adrotate banner=”105″] WINDSOR JUNCTION: Two local players with the Sackville U-13 AAA Flyers are looking forward to a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity by participating in the Quebec International Peewee Hockey Tournament, running Feb. 8 to Feb. 19.
