{"id":34515,"date":"2023-02-23T10:12:58","date_gmt":"2023-02-23T14:12:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelaker.ca\/?p=34515"},"modified":"2023-02-23T10:12:58","modified_gmt":"2023-02-23T14:12:58","slug":"millbrook-man-charged-with-firearm-offences","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/?p=34515","title":{"rendered":"Millbrook man charged with firearm offences"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;111&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;115&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>MILLBROOK:<\/strong> A 35-year-oold man from Millbrook First Nation has been charged with firearm offences after RCMP investigated a shots fired complaint in the community on Feb. 21. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a release, police say shortly after 8 p.m., Millbrook RCMP, assisted by a police dog service team, responded to a report of shots fired near the intersection of Fern Dr. and Abenaki Rd. in Millbrook First Nation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>RCMP officers who responded to the area quickly located damage, consistent with that of gunshots, at a residence on Abenaki Rd. No one at the residence suffered injuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;78&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;84&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Investigators then received additional information that an unwanted man had entered a home, with a firearm, on Fern Dr. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>RCMP officers located the 35-year-old Millbrook man in the residence and safely arrested him. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During a search of the residence RCMP officers located and seized a handgun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Albert Roy Jr. Francis, 35, has been charged with:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Unauthorized Possession of Prohibited Weapon or Restricted;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Possession of Prohibited Weapon or Device Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Careless Use of Firearm;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tampering with a Serial Number;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Failure to comply with a Release Order (six counts);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Possession of a Weapon Contrary to Order (two counts);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Discharging a Firearm while Bring Reckless.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>[adrotate banner=&#8221;190&#8243;]<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>[adrotate banner=&#8221;169&#8243;]<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Francis was remanded into custody and will appear in Truro Provincial Court on February 27, 2023, at 9:30 a.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The investigation is ongoing and being assisted by the RCMP Forensic Identification Section.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>File #:\u00a02023-241209<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8217;105&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;92&#8243;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;111&#8243;] [adrotate banner=&#8221;115&#8243;] MILLBROOK: A 35-year-oold man from Millbrook First Nation has been charged with firearm offences after RCMP investigated a shots fired complaint in the community on Feb. 21.
