{"id":34654,"date":"2023-02-28T21:35:26","date_gmt":"2023-03-01T01:35:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelaker.ca\/?p=34654"},"modified":"2023-02-28T21:35:26","modified_gmt":"2023-03-01T01:35:26","slug":"meaghers-grant-man-charged-in-3d-firearms-investigation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/?p=34654","title":{"rendered":"Meaghers Grant man charged in 3D firearms investigation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;111&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;84&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>MEAGHERS GRANT:<\/strong> A 30-year-old man from Meaghers Grant has been charged in a 3D firearms investigation that involced the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following an investigation related to a suspected firearms manufacturing operation in Nova Scotia (NS), the CBSA and the RCMP have charged a Meaghers Grant resident with a number of smuggling and firearms-related offences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In spring 2022, CBSA officers with the Outports and Postal Operations District Firearms Unit at the International Mail Processing Centre in Toronto intercepted two suspicious parcels addressed to a residence in Meaghers Grant. Each package contained five firearm suppressors. These items were held by CBSA for further investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;190&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;78&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On July 19, CBSA investigators arrested Gordon Victor Julien (30) of Meaghers Grant for smuggling and executed a search warrant at his residence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the search of the home, CBSA located and seized one 3D firearm with suppressor, 3D firearm components, one prohibited handgun, a large amount of cash, and 40 3D-printed Glock switches which enable semi-automatic firearms to be fully automatic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The CBSA requested operational assistance from the RCMP National Weapons Enforcement Support Team during the search warrant, to identify the seized firearms and associated components.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The items seized by the CBSA were transferred to the Halifax District RCMP Street Crime Enforcement Unit (SCEU), which initiated a firearms trafficking investigation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate group=&#8221;2&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;105&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The firearms and firearm components were sent for analysis. Multiple warrants to search mobile devices were also obtained by RCMP investigators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On February 1, 2023, Julien was arrested by Halifax District RCMP SCEU for multiple weapons offences and was charged with the following under the <em>Criminal Code<\/em> <em>of Canada<\/em> (CC):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Section 99(1) CC \u2013 Weapons Trafficking (three counts)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Section 100 CC \u2013 Possession for the Purpose of Weapons Trafficking<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Section 102 CC \u2013 Making Automatic Firearm<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Section 95 (1)(a) CC \u2013 Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Section 92(1) CC \u2013 Possession of Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Section 92(2) CC \u2013 Possession of Prohibited Weapon or Device Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized (three counts)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Section 91(2) CC \u2013 Unauthorized Possession of Prohibited Weapon or Restricted Weapon (three counts)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Section 86(1) CC \u2013 Careless Use of Firearm<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Section 86(2) CC \u2013 Contravention of Storage Regulations<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Section 104(1)(a) CC \u2013 Unauthorized Importing or Exporting<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate group=&#8221;6&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;194&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the same date, Julien was also charged by the CBSA with the following <em>Customs Act <\/em>offences:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Section 159(1) \u2013 Smuggling<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Section 155 \u2013 Keeping, acquiring, disposing of goods illegally imported<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Julien was released by the courts on conditions, and is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on March 7.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Quotes<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re taking action to keep Canadians safe from gun violence.
