{"id":35047,"date":"2023-03-15T18:53:33","date_gmt":"2023-03-15T21:53:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelaker.ca\/?p=35047"},"modified":"2023-03-15T18:53:33","modified_gmt":"2023-03-15T21:53:33","slug":"photos-action-from-the-ettinger-smith-memorial-tournament","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/?p=35047","title":{"rendered":"PHOTOS: Action from the Ettinger-Smith Memorial Tournament"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;78&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;84&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>LANTZ: <\/strong>Action at the annual Trevor Ettinger-Jeff Smith Memorial Tournament picked up on Wednesday as the week-long tournament neared semi-final and championship game play at the East Hants Sportsplex in Lantz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The tournament sees action in Under-9 development; Under 9 INT; Under-11C; Under-13 C; Under-15C; and Under-18C division. Play at the tournament is limited so there is to be no hitting, or one can be penalized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In action that we saw on Wednesday, we took pics of the West Colchester Cobras and Brookfield Elks (Black) at the Keith Miller Arena in the Sportsplex.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This game was a close affair, with the Cobras only winning late on a breakaway goal by no. 7 Mackenzie Slack on a shot that just eluded the Elks goalie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/IMG_5578-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-35050\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">MacKenzie Slack in on a breakaway. 9Healey photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/IMG_5580-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-35051\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The puck sits behind the Elks goalie. (Healey photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In the U-11C championship final, it was the hometown East Hants Penguins besting their opposition 5-2 to claim the championship banner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was their second tournament banner in a row. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The U11C East Hant Black Penguins defeated the Canso Bluefins, led by the scoring of Jace Harding and Seth Bokma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Owen Foot held the fort in nets, making some huge saves, to help bring home the gold medal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The win was a total team effort, as the whole team stepped up and pushed themselves to their limit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/335640476_218782924143099_6574491082010228559_n-1024x629.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-35064\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The U-11 C Pens with the banner.
