{"id":35605,"date":"2023-04-22T20:53:54","date_gmt":"2023-04-22T23:53:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelaker.ca\/?p=35605"},"modified":"2023-04-22T20:53:54","modified_gmt":"2023-04-22T23:53:54","slug":"blasting-to-continue-until-october-2023-for-aerotech-connector","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/?p=35605","title":{"rendered":"Blasting to continue until October 2023 for Aerotech Connector"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;105&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;169&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>WELLINGTON:<\/strong> The Aerotech (Wellington) Connector is scheduled for a late Fall 2024 opening, said a Department of Public Works spokesman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That was one of the updates provided to The Laker News by the official when we inquired with looking for a progress update and with some questions of concerns from residents in adjacent Oaken Hills subdivision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Concerns from residents posted on the Waverley, Fallriver, Wellington community events bulletin board varied from blasting; to time table for the construction; to wells\/damage to homes; whether Public Works or Dexter will check homes after the project is built to see if there were damages; to backyard flooding from the site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;148&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate group=&#8221;6&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gary Andrea answered the question on blasting, which several residents commented on the post about.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBlasting for the entire site is currently scheduled to be complete in October 2023,\u201d he said, \u201cwhile blasting in the immediate residential area is scheduled to be complete in July.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said the contractor is currently building the subgrade (base) of the road in part by blasting the bedrock and disposing it off site at an approved facility in compliance with the environmental permits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe subgrade contract will be done by early summer 2024, with the Aerotech Connector expected to open to the public in late Fall 2024,\u201d said Andrea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;31&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;34&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/IMG_6237-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-35607\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The construction site for the Aerotech Connector ON April 22, 2023. (Healey photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>On the question of if public works or the contractor (Dexter) would check wells and homes for damage from blasting after the construction is completed, Andrea did answer part of that concern.
