{"id":36175,"date":"2023-05-31T21:00:06","date_gmt":"2023-06-01T00:00:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelaker.ca\/?p=36175"},"modified":"2023-05-31T21:00:06","modified_gmt":"2023-06-01T00:00:06","slug":"red-cross-launches-donor-appeal-for-n-s-wildfires-will-administer-provincial-aid-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/?p=36175","title":{"rendered":"Red Cross launches donor appeal for N.S. wildfires; will administer provincial aid program"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;105&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;169&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>HALIFAX: <\/strong>Households in Nova Scotia under mandatory orders to evacuate their primary residence due to wildfires may be eligible for one-time emergency financial aid of $500 from the Government of Nova Scotia through a program being administered by the Canadian Red Cross.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Only one application and payment per household is permitted and to be eligible the household must have been evacuated from their primary home by order from a municipality or from a police, fire or local or provincial emergency management official.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Applications can be completed online at <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/redcross.ca\/AtlanticWildFires\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">redcross.ca\/AtlanticWildFires<\/a><\/strong> (or for service in French at <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/croixrouge.ca\/Feu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">croixrouge.ca\/Feu<\/a>xEnAtlantique<\/strong>) or can be made by phone from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily Atlantic time at <strong>1-800-863-6582<\/strong>.&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No other Canadian Red Cross numbers can accept these applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;148&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;31&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Given the extent of property loss and damage, the Canadian Red Cross has also launched <strong>the Nova Scotia &amp; Atlantic Canada Fires Appeal<\/strong>, allowing Canadians to contribute funds to help the most impacted people from affected areas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The extent of that support will only be known once there is a clearer picture of needs and of how much money will be raised.
