BEAVER BANK:<\/strong> For Lisa Blackburn, serving as a regional councillor was always about serving two terms and then moving on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Now, she has made what has been rumoured for a few months official.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The councillor for Upper\/Middle Sackville-Lucasville-Beaver Bank will not be reoffering in the municipal election next October 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe rumours are true,\u201d said Blackburn in an interview Sunday afternoon Sept. 17. \u201cI have made the decision to not reoffer for 2024.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate group=”6″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”31″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n Blackburn said serving as councillor was never meant to be a final destination, but an opportunity for public service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cFrom the very beginning I said two terms and then it was time to move on,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIt\u2019s too important to have different life experiences and perspectives around the Council table.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n She said serving as the representative for District 14 has been an honour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI\u2019ve moved the needle on a few big issues,\u201d said Blackburn. \u201cThe new district boundaries coming into play will present an opportunity for new leadership.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”126″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”54″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n Councillor Cathy Deagle Gammon was asked for comment on Blackburn\u2019s news that she wasn\u2019t reoffering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cLisa has been a phenomenal mentor to other councillors, like me,\u201d said Deagle Gammon in an interview on Sept. 14 at her Fall River home. \u201cShe’s been one of my go to persons when I’ve been a little bit unsure about something or if I wanted to fact check.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cLisa’s favorite thing is trust but verify.
