{"id":39249,"date":"2023-10-04T14:55:11","date_gmt":"2023-10-04T17:55:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelaker.ca\/?p=39249"},"modified":"2023-10-04T14:55:11","modified_gmt":"2023-10-04T17:55:11","slug":"street-closures-for-cogswell-district-announced","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/?p=39249","title":{"rendered":"Street closures for Cogswell District announced"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;93&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;169&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>HALIFAX:<\/strong> The HRM issued the following advisory for upcoming road closures in the Cogswell District.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The closures will take place in two phases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When Phase 1 begins, Cogswell Street, from Brunswick to Barrington streets, will be closed from October 18 to June 2024. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Residents may detour via Brunswick, Duke or Cornwallis streets. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To view the Halifax Transit routes that will be re-routed, visit their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.halifax.ca\/transportation\/halifax-transit\/service-disruptions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">website<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Cogswell_Map1_edit-1024x777.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-39252\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Map 1 of the closure (HRM photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;34&#8242;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;71&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During Phase 1, crews will work on mass excavation, installing underground services and the construction of a new detour road that will open in conjunction with the beginning of Phase 2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When Phase 2 begins, a new detour road connecting the new permanent Cogswell Street to Barrington Street (north) will open. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Barrington Street, from the former Cogswell Street intersection to Duke Street, will be closed from June to December 2024. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Residents may detour via Upper Water or Cornwallis streets. During this closure, the Halifax Transit Terminal on Barrington Street will be temporarily relocated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During Phase 2, crews will work on mass excavation, installing underground services and the construction of a new transit terminal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>MAP 2<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Cogswell_Map2_edit-1024x896.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-39251\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Map 2 of the closure.
