{"id":39308,"date":"2023-10-07T03:52:39","date_gmt":"2023-10-07T06:52:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelaker.ca\/?p=39308"},"modified":"2023-10-07T03:52:39","modified_gmt":"2023-10-07T06:52:39","slug":"champions-crowned-at-halifax-300-weekend-race-finale","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/?p=39308","title":{"rendered":"Champions crowned at Halifax 300 weekend race finale"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;105&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;78&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>SCOTIA SPEEDWORLD: <\/strong>Gage Gilby cemented his name as the Strictly Hydraulics Legend division champion at Scotia Speedworld the only way he knew how too \u2013 by winning the final feature of 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the Halifax 300 weekend on Sept. 30, the finale of the race season and a show-points only event, Gilby crossed the finish line first in the heat race, and then did the same in the feature taking his No. 25 CKG Elevator machine to The Tire Man Victory Lane.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each racer that showed up at the track received 100 points, so as soon as they showed up the champions and rookie recipients were known and made official.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/IMG_7362-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-39319\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Gage Gilby gets a big hug from mom Julie on winning the Legends title. (Healey photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In the Outlaw Bandolero race, despite a mechanical issue that ended his race three laps early in the 50-lap feature (two 25 lap races), Daniel Vandenburg of Onslow took home the championship wheeling the no. 97.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Landon Pierce arrived in time to hit the track for the second 25 lap feature from a referee clinic and well continued to put on a clinic, much like Dawson Noble did for the first 25 laps in the no. 19 Bandolero.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pierce won the feature ahead of 14 Sam MacDonald and the no. 27 of Hailey Bland of Lakeview.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Beaver Bank\u2019s Bella Pashkoski came home in fifth place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lily Whynot of Dartmouth brought her car to The Tire Man Victory Lane where she was hugged by Bland and other top three finishers for winning the Tim Hortons at the Airport Rookie of the Year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/IMG_7308-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-39311\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Lily Whynot gets a big hug from friend Hailey Bland on winning rookie of the year.
