FALL RIVER:<\/strong> A midfielder from Fall River has been announced as part of the recruiting class of 2024 for an Atlantic University port women\u2019s soccer tram.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Midfielder Myl\u00e9ne (Mimi) Cormier, 16, of Fall River has signed a U Sports Letter of intent, the UNB Reds women\u2019s soccer team announced last week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n She will join the Reds ahead of the 2024 Atlantic University Sport season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Cormier said she will fell in love with the campus right away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI always felt welcomed with the team and coaching staff, fully knowing the Kinesiology program has a strong reputation,\u201d she said in an interview.<\/p>\n\n\n\n ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate group=”8″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”115″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n Reds head coach Jon Crossland said that UNB is excited to have Mimi join the squad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cShe comes from a great club in Suburban that has been successful and continues to produce quality athletes and people,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Cormier is in her Senior year at \u00c9cole Secondaire du Sommet in Halifax, and is a veteran member of Halifax\u2019s Suburban FC, having played with the club\u2019s teams at the U15 and U17 AAA levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n She\u2019s also spent time in the REX Whitecaps organization, represented Nova Scotia at the 2022 U17 national championship tournament, and captained her high school team to a pair of Division 2 provincial titles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”92″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”190″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n Crossland said he could see right away how Cormier would fit in with the UNB team early in the recruiting process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIt started with her playing ability,\u201d said Crossland. \u201cThen you realize quickly that Mimi is a leader within her team and community, is a great student, and makes places better when she is involved.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Cormier\u2019s short-term goal\u2014help the Reds win an AUS championship.
