ELMSDALE:<\/strong> The Elmsdale Medical Centre is now under operation of Nova Scotia Health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The change in operation ownership became into effect on Dec. 8, an official with Nova Scotia Health confirmed in an interview with The Laker News.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Katie Heckman, Health Services Manager, Primary Health Care& Chronic Disease Management with Colchester East Hants Network, Northern Zone, spoke about the change when The Laker News inquired.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The operation change had been rumoured to be happening for a couple months before it could be made official.<\/p>\n\n\n\n ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate group=”6″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”84″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n Heckman was asked if the change meant anything different for patients at the Medical Centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIt doesn\u2019t mean a whole lot in terms of patient care,\u201d said Heckman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAny patients that are at the practice or have physicians at that practice the change really has a low impact on them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cFrom a staff point of view, they would all be Nova Scotia Health employees now.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n She explained sustainability is the main reason for the change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe reason is to just kind of create a more sustainable path forward for the clinic,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”78″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”190″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n She said that the only cost in the operation takeover is that NSH is taking over the operational costs associated with the clinic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThat would not be anything different from any of our other what we call kind of turnkey clinic,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Heckman confirmed the change took effect on Dec. 8.<\/p>\n\n\n\n It\u2019s hoped the operation change will allow for better recruitment of physicians to the clinic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI think this will be a positive change for the community,\u201d said Heckman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”67″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”169″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”105″]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" [adrotate banner=”111″] [adrotate banner=”115″] ELMSDALE: The Elmsdale Medical Centre is now under operation of Nova Scotia Health.
