From a release<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n HALIFAX:<\/strong> The Minister of Public Works said the province will be reducing wait times Nova Scotians have to get driver’s tests because for many their “quality of life depends on having a driver’s license.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n In a release on Feb. 9, the province said they will be adding more examiners and making the testing system more efficient.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cPeople need to go to work, get to appointments and visit with family and friends, and for many of us our quality of life depends on having a driver\u2019s licence,\u201d said Public Works Minister Kim Masland. <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe current wait time is too long. <\/p>\n\n\n\n “Nova Scotians should be able to get a test for a licence when they need it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”34″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate group=”7″] With these 15 new driver examiners, up to 900 tests per week will be added to the system. Tests are also being added by extending hours and making appointments available on weekends. ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”71″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”192″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n The goal of the initiative is to reduce wait times for a driver\u2019s test to about three weeks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The current wait time in Nova Scotia is about six weeks and was as high as 22 weeks last August. <\/a>Public Works has hired five new driver examiners to work at Access Nova Scotia centres and is partnering with Safety Services Nova Scotia to hire and train 10 more. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
<\/a>About 10 per cent of appointments are currently missed or not completed; this rate will be improved through reduced paperwork, more reminders and improved translated materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
