{"id":42754,"date":"2024-02-17T06:48:00","date_gmt":"2024-02-17T10:48:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelaker.ca\/?p=42754"},"modified":"2024-02-17T06:48:00","modified_gmt":"2024-02-17T10:48:00","slug":"everwinds-canadian-green-hydrogen-ammonia-project-will-generate-economic-and-structural-benefits-major-study-finds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/?p=42754","title":{"rendered":"EverWind\u2019s Canadian green hydrogen, ammonia project will generate economic and structural benefits, major study finds\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;188&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;105&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>From a press release<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>HALIFAX:<\/strong> EverWind Fuels has announced the release of EverWind\u2019s Economic Impact Assessment on its Nova Scotia based green hydrogen and ammonia project (\u201cNova Scotia Project\u201d).\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>EverWind is a pioneering developer of an Atlantic Canadian green fuels hub based across Nova Scotia &amp; Newfoundland &amp; Labrador, according to a release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Economic Impact Assessment, which was supported by Deloitte Canada, found significant economic and environmental benefits from EverWind\u2019s Nova Scotia Projec. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This will include the full green energy production cycle from renewable power generation (wind &amp; solar) to green hydrogen-to-ammonia production.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;34&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate group=&#8221;7&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Economic contribution that will arise during the construction period for Phase 1 of EverWind\u2019s Nova Scotia Project were estimated to be:\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Over $2.3 billion in Canadian GDP, with approximately half accruing to Nova Scotia &nbsp;<br \/>\u2022 Over 11,000 FTEs in Canada, with approximately half accruing to Nova Scotia&nbsp;<br \/>\u2022 Approximately $568 million in Government revenue, with approximately half accruing to Nova Scotia &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Economic contribution during operations (post-construction) for Phase 1 of EverWind\u2019s Nova Scotia Project were estimated to be:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Over $340 million\/year contribution in Canadian GDP, with the vast\u00a0<br \/>majority accruing to Nova Scotia\u00a0<br \/>\u2022 Approximately 900 FTEs1, in Canada, with the vast majority accruing to Nova Scotia\u00a0<br \/>\u2022 Approximately $37 million\/year in Government revenue, with the vast majority accruing to Nova Scotia\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;92&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;31&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8217;169&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The EIA highlighted the following structural benefits:\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Community and First Nations Benefits \u2013 EverWind\u2019s Mi&#8217;kmaq equity\u00a0<br \/>partnerships will enable sustainable business growth, employment, and training opportunities for local First Nations.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 The Nova Scotia Project will reduce CO2 emissions by an estimated 1.91 to 2.33 million tonnes each year (the approximate equivalent of taking 3 out of every 4 cars in Nova Scotia off the road).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Energy Supply and Balancing for the Grid \u2013 The Nova Scotia Project is poised to deliver annual benefits of over $30 million to Nova Scotia\u2019s grid through load following, and ancillary grid services, and tariff payments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 International Trade for Green Hydrogen \u2013 Point Tupper is considered to be an ideal location for green hydrogen and green ammonia exports to the largest global demand markets\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Capacity Development and Innovation \u2013 The Nova Scotia Project will enhance Canada\u2019s green energy innovation, while supporting Nova Scotia\u2019s labour market. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;206&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;192&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The study finds that the first phase of production may break the chicken-and-egg problem of hydrogen supply and demand and establishes further phases of growth and sustainability of project operations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Future phases of the project, which include additional onshore and offshore wind development, are set up to generate further economic benefits to Canada and Nova Scotia.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>EverWind acknowledges the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi&#8217;kmaq people, and we acknowledge them as the past, present, and future caretakers of this land, Mi&#8217;kma&#8217;ki. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our work shares a core principle practiced by the Mi&#8217;kmaq: environmental stewardship.
