{"id":43041,"date":"2024-02-25T08:11:00","date_gmt":"2024-02-25T12:11:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelaker.ca\/?p=43041"},"modified":"2024-02-25T08:11:00","modified_gmt":"2024-02-25T12:11:00","slug":"langille-sisters-earn-double-gold-bronze-for-unb-mun","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/?p=43041","title":{"rendered":"Langille sisters earn double gold, bronze for UNB, MUN"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;111&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;169&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>MONCTON, N.B.: The Langille family may need to build another shelf at their Windsor Junction home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s because both Claire and Jill Langille took home medals from the Atlantic University Sport (AUS) track &amp; field championships, held this past weekend at Universite de Moncton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Claire, representing Memorial University, earned bronze in one of her athletic specialties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile Jill, wearing the red and black of the UNB REDS women\u2019s track &amp; field team out of Fredericton, N.B., earned double gold in individual and team competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;78&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate group=&#8221;8&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jill Langille won the women\u2019s 60-metres in a time of 7.66 seconds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She then helped REDS teammates Katrina Stefaniuk, Peighton Johnson, and Shelby MacIsaac win the women\u2019s 4-by-400-metre relay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThroughout the season my races and times have been consistent, and I\u2019m pleased with the results today,\u201d said Langille.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;\u201cI\u2019m looking forward to pushing for faster times at the U SPORTS Championships.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;190&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>UNB\u2019s Oliver Arnfast captured the gold medal in the men\u2019s heptathlon, recording a score of 4354 points, more than 600 points better than his closest competitor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Claire Langille won the bronze medal in the 300-metre race.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The third-year student, studying Biochemistry, also competed in the 60-metre race.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There was no word on how she fared in that race.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;115&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;105&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>MacIsaac earned her second medal of the day with a second-place finish in the women\u2019s 600-metres while Emily Doucet took bronze in the women\u2019s 1500-metres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cJillian and Shelby really stepped up to lead the day,\u201d said REDS\u2019 head coach Chris Belof. \u201cOur women had a solid second day, capped by that amazing 4-by-400 win.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m so proud of our team and what we\u2019ve accomplished,\u201d said Langille, of the relay win. \u201cEveryone played a part and executed the way we wanted to and doing exactly what we set out to do.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The U SPORTS Track and Field Championships take place March 7-9 in Winnipeg at the University of Manitoba. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;92&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;127&#8243;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;111&#8243;] [adrotate banner=&#8221;169&#8243;] MONCTON, N.B.: The Langille family may need to build another shelf at their Windsor Junction home.
