EAST HANTS:<\/strong> RCMP are investigating a threatening text that a resident received on March 10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Const. Preston Burns, Community Policing Officer with East Hants RCMP, said police were notified that someone had received a threatening text from someone saying that someone had been paid to assassinate them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe message also warned the person to not call the police,\u201d said Const. Burns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe responding officer was aware and had experience in dealing with this particular scam known as the \u201cHit Man Scam.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”190″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”87″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n Th Hit Man Scam is where the person attempts to frighten the recipient into sending money to make the threat go away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe officer was able to show the complainant the exact same wording taken from the Internet that she had received,\u201d said Const. Burns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He said the investigation continues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Const.
