{"id":43783,"date":"2024-03-20T21:50:00","date_gmt":"2024-03-21T00:50:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelaker.ca\/?p=43783"},"modified":"2024-03-20T21:50:00","modified_gmt":"2024-03-21T00:50:00","slug":"blasting-at-aerotech-connector-to-continue-into-may-public-works","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/?p=43783","title":{"rendered":"Blasting at Aerotech Connector to continue into May: Public Works"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;206&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;169&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>WELLINGTON:<\/strong> Crews continue to make progress at construction of the Aerotech Connector in Wellington.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Local residents had emailed The Laker News regarding blasting and damage to their homes, as well as being kept informed when blasting would occur at least last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, there hasn\u2019t been as much in that way happening and residents who live in nearby Oaken Hills say the blasting has picked up and is much more frequent daily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The residents were wondering if there was any further info on the blasting or timeline for the Connector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;31&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate group=&#8221;6&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As such, The Laker News contacted the Department of Public Works seeking some answers to their query.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gary Andrea, spokesperson for the Department, said blasting operations remain underway at the Aerotech Connector project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe contractor is currently focusing on areas near Highway 2 and Highway 102,\u201d said Andrea in an interview. \u201cTimelines are highly subject to weather and existing rock conditions.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;71&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;34&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said the blasting will be continuing into May.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBlasting operations are expected to continue for roughly the next six weeks,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe area near Highway 2 should be finished by the end of the month.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Andrea also provided a bit of an update on the subgrade work at the site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe expect subgrade work to be finished by early fall, 2024,\u201d said Andrea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;192&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate group=&#8221;7&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;92&#8243;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;206&#8243;] [adrotate banner=&#8221;169&#8243;] WELLINGTON: Crews continue to make progress at construction of the Aerotech Connector in Wellington.
