{"id":44143,"date":"2024-04-08T15:10:00","date_gmt":"2024-04-08T18:10:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelaker.ca\/?p=44143"},"modified":"2024-04-08T15:10:00","modified_gmt":"2024-04-08T18:10:00","slug":"province-announces-rebates-for-larger-zero-emission-vehicles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/?p=44143","title":{"rendered":"Province announces rebates for larger zero-emission vehicles"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;93&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;210&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>HALIFAX:<\/strong> New rebates for medium- and heavy-duty zero-emission vehicles, including commercial and industrial vans and trucks, are now available.<a><br \/><br \/><\/a>\u201cTransportation is Nova Scotia\u2019s second-largest source of greenhouse gas emissions,\u201d said Tory Rushton, Minister of Natural Resources and Renewables. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMoving to zero-emission vehicles reduces emissions and supports our goal of reaching net zero by 2050. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;So we\u2019re continuing to offer rebates for electric cars and bikes and adding a pilot program with new rebates for larger vehicles.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ADVERTISEMENT;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;34&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;206&#8243;]<a><br \/><br \/><\/a>Eligible vehicles include vans and trucks used for commercial or industrial purposes that weigh more than 3,856 kilograms (8,500 pounds) and electric resurfacing machines like Zambonis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Clean Foundation is administering the new pilot through the Electrify Nova Scotia Rebate Program. It will offer rebates of up to $50,000 per vehicle \u2013 depending on its class \u2013to businesses, non-profits, municipalities and Mi\u2019kmaw communities that want to move to electric vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Helping Nova Scotians buy more zero-emission vehicles is a commitment in Our Climate, Our Future: Nova Scotia\u2019s Climate Change Plan for Clean Growth. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The plan aims to create a cleaner, healthier and more sustainable future for all Nova Scotians.
