{"id":44151,"date":"2024-04-02T18:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-04-02T21:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelaker.ca\/?p=44151"},"modified":"2024-04-02T18:00:00","modified_gmt":"2024-04-02T21:00:00","slug":"wongs-riding-in-memory-of-friend-during-wounded-warrior-canada-fundraiser","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/?p=44151","title":{"rendered":"Wong&#8217;s riding in memory of friend during Wounded Warrior Canada fundraiser"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;93&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;127&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>FALL RIVER:<\/strong> A local couple are in the process of training for a big ride in support of a nationally-recognized mental health organization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brian Wong and his wife Marlene will be participating in a four-day, 500-kilometre bike ride along the beaches of Normandy, France in support of Wounded Warriors Canada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wounded Warriors Canada&nbsp;is a nationally-recognized organization providing mental health assistance to veterans and first responders that are ill and injured (Trauma Exposed Professionals) and their families.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;Wong, who is the MLA for Waverley-Fall River-Beaver Bank and Advanced Education Minister,&nbsp; said he and his wife began training at the start of the New Year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cWe both have been doing spin classes twice a week and doing cardio and weights when we can fit it in,\u201d said Wong. \u201cWe also have a friend that has done the ride two times.
