{"id":44704,"date":"2024-04-30T19:55:00","date_gmt":"2024-04-30T22:55:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelaker.ca\/?p=44704"},"modified":"2024-04-30T19:55:00","modified_gmt":"2024-04-30T22:55:00","slug":"premier-announces-more-funding-for-medical-school-campus-in-cape-breton","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/?p=44704","title":{"rendered":"Premier announces more funding for Medical School Campus in Cape Breton"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;188&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;93&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>CAPE BRETON: <\/strong>Nova Scotia\u2019s second medical school campus is on track to open in the fall of 2025 with 30 seats for first-year medical students, with a focus on practising in rural Nova Scotian communities.<br \/><br \/>The province will fund operations at the Cape Breton University (CBU) site \u2013 a partnership with Dalhousie University\u2019s faculty of medicine \u2013 for two years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It will also fund five additional medical school seats at Dalhousie starting this fall.<br \/><br \/>\u201cWe\u2019re moving fast to address the needs of Nova Scotians, and we\u2019ve made a lot of progress in just one year to deliver on our promise to fix healthcare,\u201d said Premier Tim Houston. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cA second medical school campus will make a big difference in improving access to care with more doctors for all Nova Scotians, and especially for those in rural parts of the province.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;192&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;31&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>N.S. announced the new state-of-the-art campus for CBU in March 2023.
