ELMSDALE:<\/strong> Two East Hants women are off to represent Team Canada at an international powerlifting championship south of the border.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Glynnis Powell of Elmsdale and Wanda Leese of Enfield are heading to the International Powerlifting Federation World Bench Press Championships in Austin Texas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Leese and Powell both said that this is an amazing opportunity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI never thought I would compete anywhere as an athlete, but going to this event together with my training partner Glynnis is so exciting,\u201d said Leese in an interview before the two, who train at Renew Health\/ADAPT Fitness, left for Texas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”78″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”127″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n There is going to be approximately more than 1,200 athletes from around the World at the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Leese will be competing in the Women\u2019s Classic M2 (50-59) 84kg+. Powell will be competing in the Masters 1 76kg class.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Leese is hoping to meet her personal best lift total at the competition and cheer on some strong women.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI feel really lucky to have this chance to represent Team Canada with a wonderful group of Canadian athletes,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Powell said she\u2019s excited to be going as part of Team Canada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cNever in my wildest dreams had I ever thought I would have the chance, let alone the opportunity,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate group=”2″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”92″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n She is hoping to meet her personal record or go higher at the championship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cBut most of all, just to have fun and enjoy the experience,\u201d said Powell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Powel said going to the international competition means everything to her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIt’s proof that with hard work and consistency, anything is possible,\u201d said Powell. \u201cI’m so proud to represent my country.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n She wants to show people that anything is possible with hard work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cTraining to be strong is amazing and so much fun,\u201d she said. \u201cPowerlifting has been such a life changing thing. It taught me to train for strength.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe body is amazing and capable of amazing things.
