{"id":46392,"date":"2024-06-25T13:19:52","date_gmt":"2024-06-25T16:19:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelaker.ca\/?p=46392"},"modified":"2024-06-25T13:19:52","modified_gmt":"2024-06-25T16:19:52","slug":"third-place-finish-huge-for-enfields-gilby-in-nova-truck-centres-150","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/?p=46392","title":{"rendered":"Third place finish &#8220;huge&#8221; for Enfield&#8217;s Gilby in NOVA Truck Centres 150"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;111&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;206&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong><em>Nic Naugle takes the win <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong><em>at Pro Stock Tour race<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>SCOTIA SPEEDWORLD:<\/strong> A third-place finish felt like a win for Gage Gilby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Enfield wheelman of the no. 25G was ear-to-ear smiles in East Coast International Maritime Pro Stock Tour victory lane after a third place run in just his third tour race.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He finished behind Nic Nuagle of Dartmouth who took the NOVA Truck Centres 150 in support of Special Olympics Nova Scotia checkered flag before a large crowd at Scotia Speedworld on June 22.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Points leader Jarrett Butcher who struggled all day, but his crew managed to fine tune his no. 54 &nbsp;Superior Foundations-sponsored machine enough hat he could come home second. Butcher gave his trophy to a Special Olympics athlete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;87&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;190&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The excitement of what the podium finish meant for the Gilby Motorsports team was evident as Gilby spoke with The Laker News after the race.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis is huge Pat,\u201d said Gilby, who lists his major sponsors as CKG Elevator-Ryson Construction-CAPSTONE Construction-E-Commerce Solutions. \u201cFor our team to be here in our third race of the season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThese guys behind me do it for me every week. Without them I\u2019m really nothing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe car was great. I\u2019m happy to be here (on the podium) in my third race.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He gave a shoutout to spotter Josh Langille, who is a top-notch Legends car driver himself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThank you to Josh Langille who got me through that race the best he could,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/IMG_2995-1024x768.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-46394\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Gage Gilby gets a big hug from a fan. (Healey photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate group=&#8221;8&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;115&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gilby did take the lead on Naugle on a late restart, but race director called the start off and it was redone after both Gilby and Nuagle looked to jump it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The HERH student admitted the nerves may have played a part.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI was happy when I got that lead, but I jumped that start a little bit,\u201d said Gilby. \u201cThe nerves got to me a little bit and I hit the gun a little too early.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhen I dropped back to fourth, I was even happy with that but to end up third I\u2019m super happy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He\u2019s hoping to carry the momentum into this weekends race in Antigonish on June 29. It will be part of the NASCAR Canada doubleheader at the track in James River. Green flag goes at 6 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m excited for Riverside,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;92&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;78&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Butcher knows he was lucky to get home with second and maintain the points lead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis is a win for us,\u201d said Butcher. \u201cI made the mistake of coming here with something we shouldn\u2019t off. (Healey photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Naugle was thrilled to get the checkered flag after a race that saw him battle with the no. 29 of Greg Proude for several laps for top spot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s awesome to get the win,\u201d he said. \u201cTwo years in a row to win this race is phenomenal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s amazing to kick off the season this way. The car came alive in the race.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jordan Veinotte (Porter\u2019s Lake, NS) had another great run but finished just short of the podium in fourth, with Austin MacDonald (Pictou, NS) coming home with a fifth-place finish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>MacDonald and Danny Chisholm (Antigonish, NS) won their respective Atlantic Tiltload heat races which set the field for the 150-lap feature with a 15-car field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;Shubenacadie\u2019s Steve Lively brought home the no. 30 with a top 10 run.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;67&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;210&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Maritime Allstar Sportsman Series provided lots of great racing for fans prior to the Nova Truck Centres 150.
