HALIFAX: <\/strong>Canadian roots singer\/songwriter and keyboard player Jeff Rogers<\/strong>\u2019 unmistakably soulful\u00a0voice often evokes\u00a0weighty\u00a0comparisons to the past – whether that\u2019s Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles or even Otis Redding\u2026. yet, his tone, range,\u00a0phrasing, and sincerity,\u00a0all make him unmistakably\u00a0contemporary \u2013\u00a0and totally original.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jeff\u2019s highly anticipated new solo album\u00a0Dream Job<\/strong><\/a> was released in Canada on October 27, 2023<\/strong> (Diesel Entertainment\/Fontana North).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was recorded in the revered music mecca of Muscle Shoals, Alabama, where many of the greats including, Aretha Franklin, The Rolling Stones, Bob Seger, Etta James, Paul Simon, Otis Redding, and The Black Keys, have recorded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For this album, Jeff is accompanied by some of the legendary musicians, including Kelvin Holly <\/strong>(Little Richard, Bobby Bland etc.), Clayton Ivey (<\/strong>The Staple Sisters, Thelma Houston), Justin Holder (<\/strong>Keb Mo\u2019, Delbert McClinton) <\/strong>and Shonna Tucker <\/strong>(Booker T. Jones, Drive-By-Truckers).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dream Job<\/em><\/strong> <\/em>is co-produced by Dick Cooper <\/strong>of The Cooper Brothers <\/strong>and features special guest appearances by Grammy Award winner, Colin Linden, <\/strong>and Juno Award winning singer, Kellylee Evans.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMuscle Shoals was groovy. The mojo in that place is undeniable. It\u2019s a privilege to get to make music with veteran musicians, especially those with the portfolios such as Kelvin and Clayton possess\u2026\u201d <\/em>Jeff says. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Born in Bathurst, NB and raised in Ottawa, as one of the cities best kept secrets, Jeff Rogers honed his skills and mastered his craft over the past twenty years performing constantly in the clubs and festivals in and around the area, including Ottawa Bluesfest, where he opened for Norah Jones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jeff has toured internationally and is in demand session player. He has also been a member of renowned country\/rock band The Cooper Brothers for over a decade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been writing with Dick Cooper for years now,\u201d <\/em>says Jeff.\u00a0 <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2026and it\u2019s always fun to just hang out and bounce around ideas. I\u2019m very lucky to have him as a friend, band mate, and co-writer.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dream Job<\/strong> <\/em>is the culmination of this musical collaboration and might be the boldest statement to date of Jeff\u2019s vocal talent, his musical ability and his song writing gifts.  <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

He is set for a July 25 performance with Downchild Blues Band at the Lighthouse Arts Centre in Halifax.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
