The interview was translated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are being oppressed for the last 32 years back home,\u201d he said. We have been living at a small place at a refugee camp and passing through many hardships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Burmese Army killed our parents; they humiliated our religion.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/447773739_1219017336130802_2798769417433002242_n-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-47097\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The family walks towards the exit at Halifax Stanfield and their new life in N.S. (Healey photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>He said his family is thankful to the HEART Society and Canada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are thankful to Canadians for giving us a nice shelter whereas nobody gave us shelter at our home,\u201d said Mohammed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBesides this, we would like to give thanks to Nova Scotians as well.
