HALIFAX STANFIELD AIRPORT:<\/strong> Two women have been charged by police after an investigation into drug smuggling that occurred this week at Halifax Stanfield International Airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In a release, Cpl. Guillaume Tremblay with N.S. RCMP, said on July 22 at approximately 10:25 a.m. while examining outbound luggage at the airport, Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) officers intercepted four large suitcases containing 140 lbs of suspected cannabis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Upon further examination, the luggage was identified as belonging to two passengers scheduled to leave the country on an international flight to the United Kingdom. <\/p>\n\n\n\n CBSA officers located and boarded the aircraft, identified the two passengers and arrested them for smuggling a controlled substance out of Canada, contrary to S. 159(2) of the Customs Act<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”34″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”31″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n The suspects were escorted to CBSA detention cells located within the airport, with the assistance of officers of the Halifax Regional Police Airport Security Unit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n A short time later, they were interviewed by investigators from the Guns and Drugs Unit of the RCMP\/HRP Integrated Criminal Investigation Division. <\/p>\n\n\n\n This led to investigators seizing amounts of Canadian and American currency, as well as British pounds.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n The suspects, along with all evidence seized by the CBSA, were turned over to the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division for further investigation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate group=”6″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”92″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”206″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n Rebekah Dublin, 22, and Shante Liverpool, 20, have been charged with:<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u00b7 Possession for the Purpose of Distributing Cannabis<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u00b7 Possession for Purpose of Exporting Cannabis<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u00b7 Possession for the Purpose of Selling Cannabis<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u00b7 Possession of Property Obtained by Crime<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u00b7 Laundering Proceeds of Crime<\/p>\n\n\n\n They both appeared in Dartmouth Provincial Court on July 23 and were remanded into custody. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The two were due to return to court on July 24.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Transporting cannabis across the Canadian border is a serious criminal offence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n File 24-98930<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”71″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”148″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”192″]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" [adrotate banner=”169″] [adrotate banner=”188″] HALIFAX STANFIELD AIRPORT: Two women have been charged by police after an investigation into drug smuggling that occurred this week at Halifax Stanfield International Airport.
