Loyal study shows points program not tested: Chender"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;93&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;148&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>From a release:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>HALIFAX:<\/strong> The provincial government\u2019s Nova Scotia Loyal program took three years and $6 million to develop, but it\u2019s unclear if it will actually incentivize Nova Scotians to buy local products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Under the Freedom of Information Act, the NSNDP obtained a 2022 report testing different incentive options for the program. Offering extra reward points was not tested during the research phase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis report was commissioned by the Houston government using public money, yet it didn\u2019t even study the incentive program that was eventually settled on,\u201d said NSNDP leader Claudia Chender. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe know that Nova Scotians want to buy local and support Nova Scotia farmers, but right now this program does little to incentivize them to do that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;169&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;34&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 2022 report found that offering a monetary incentive \u2013 such as a gift card with the purchase of local products \u2013 was by far the most effective way to influence consumers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It also found that customers were more receptive to incentives offered in independent stores, compared to Sobeys.
