Preston Burns, East Hants RCMP Community Policing Officer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>AMAZON SCAM<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On July 26, East Hants RCMP were notified that a Nine Mile River resident was the victim of a phone scam. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The victim received a call from a female stating that they worked for \u201cAmazon Fraud\u201d and was told that their account had been hacked. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Convinced of the crime, the victim proceeded to send several thousand dollars via e-transfer to the unknown person before realizing that they were scammed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The investigation continues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>MOTOR VEHICLE ACT TICKETS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over the past week, East Hants RCMP members issued approximately 50 summary offence tickets or written warnings to motorists under the Motor Vehicle Act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The offences included but were not limited to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> operating a motor vehicle while using a handheld device(cellphone), <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>speeding, <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>not wearing a seat belt, <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>no insurance, <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>no registration, <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>non valid inspection and <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>operating a motor vehicle with film tint to the left and right of driver.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>F<strong><em>rom the Cruiser is brought to you by:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;87&#8243;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Brought to you by: [adrotate banner=&#8221;87&#8243;] ENFIELD: Over the past week, officers with East Hants RCMP responded to 110 calls for service.
