(Healey photo)<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n EAST UNIACKE:<\/strong> A 24-year-old Milford woman is facing impaired driving charges following a single-vehicle collision in East Uniacke, RCMP said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Const. Preston Burns, Community Policing Officer with East Hants RCMP, said that police and fire, along with EHS, responded to the call for the mvc on Sept. 9 at approximately 9 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n It took place on Highway 354 in East Uniacke, Const. Burns said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Const. Burns said upon arrival officers could see a black sedan had landed in the ditch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”190″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”115″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n He said the driver told officers they had swerved to avoid hitting a deer and lost control. They were not injured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWhile the RCMP officer was interacting with the driver, he noted signs of impairment by alcohol,\u201d said Const. Burns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The officer demanded the woman provide a sample of their breath on the approved roadside screening device (ASD).<\/p>\n\n\n\n The result was a \u201cfail\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate group=”2″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”210″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”92″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n The woman was subsequently arrested for impaired driving and brought to the Enfield Detachment where they provided two more samples of their breath.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The results were 130 mg% and 140mg% respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Samantha Strome, 24, of Milford, has been charged with Impaired Driving related offences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Strome will appear in court at a later date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”218″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”221″]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" [adrotate banner=”111″] [adrotate banner=”78″] MAIN PHOTO: An RCMP vehicle with its lights on.
