SPCA opens new North Nova SPCA building"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;148&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;169&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>STELLARTON:<\/strong> On Sept. 17, the newest SPCA was \u201cunleashed\u201d in Stellarton.<br \/><br \/>An unleashing is a little different from your typical ribbon cutting. The building isn\u2019t yet finished and ready to open to the public. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This \u201cunleashing\u201d of the North Nova building celebrates all those who supported the build and signifies\u202fthat the Nova Scotia SPCA can start the process of moving in from the old location.<br \/><br \/>\u201cIt is not every day that the SPCA can address a large room of supporters to say thank you,\u201d says Elizabeth Murphy, CEO of the Nova Scotia SPCA. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cToday\u2019s unleashing celebrates the generosity of our donors, the hard work of all the local tradespeople, and recognizes the determination of our volunteers to make the North Nova SPCA as spectacular as it is.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;31&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate group=&#8221;7&#8243;]<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>The building, named after supporters Sharon and the Hon. Elmer MacKay, is 9,148 square feet and will house a shelter, Tartan Tails Veterinary Hospital for shelter animals and the public, and a social enterprise thrift store.\u202f<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This will replace the old Pictou SPCA which was built in 1979.<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>\u201cThe new facility offers significant improvements and accessibility over our Pictou shelter,\u201d says Heather Woodin, Chief of Animal Operations with the Nova Scotia SPCA. \u201c<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With expanded spaces for housing, improved surfaces and air exchange for disease control, this bright, modern facility has been purposely built for the comfort of animals and people.\u201d<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>Over the next few weeks, the SPCA will start to move in staff and animals, set up the thrift store and <a href=\"https:\/\/novascotiaspca.us11.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=358733abdf92c18d70766c15a&amp;id=43704168bc&amp;e=fc0ef8b01c\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Tartan Tails Veterinary Hospital<\/a>, and will open to the public in October.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;71&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;127&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;34&#8243;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;148&#8243;] [adrotate banner=&#8221;169&#8243;] STELLARTON: On Sept. 17, the newest SPCA was \u201cunleashed\u201d in Stellarton.
