{"id":51364,"date":"2025-01-05T14:55:23","date_gmt":"2025-01-05T18:55:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelaker.ca\/?p=51364"},"modified":"2025-01-05T14:55:23","modified_gmt":"2025-01-05T18:55:23","slug":"halifax-man-hoping-to-speak-at-ny-stroke-conference","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/?p=51364","title":{"rendered":"Halifax man hoping to speak at NY stroke conference"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;169&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;93&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>HALIFAX:<\/strong> A Halifax man is looking to the community for help to be able to get to New York to speak at a conference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stephen Scharf, who is a double stroke survivor, has been recently asked to speak at the 2025 New York stroke summit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event will take place on April 25.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He had two strokes in 2008 at the age of 22-years-old.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;31&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate group=&#8221;7&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, Scharf does not have the financial resources to travel from Halifax to New York.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He is on long-term disability so that money he gets is already budgeted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Scharf is looking to the community and Nova Scotians for a little help.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He has set up a GoFundMe where he is accepting donations with a goal of $1,500.
