(Submitted photo\/The Crocker family)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate group=&#8221;6&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;31&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before the Games started, Crocker got to do something he won\u2019t soon forget.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He was one of two Invictus Games athletes to drop the ceremonial puck with Prince Harry and another representative before an NHL game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Vancouver Canucks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBeing able to drop the puck with a fellow competitor and Prince Harry was a once in a lifetime event, especially at a Canucks and Leafs game,\u201d said Crocker from Vancouver.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt was great to meet Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle. They both seem like very down to earth people and were easy to talk to.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Leafs Auston Matthews, the Leafs Captain, and Canucks assistant captain Tyler Myers (in place of captain Quinn Hughes, who was out injured) took the ceremonial face off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;148&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;92&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He has completed action in the Nordic skiing and skeleton competitions at the Games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Skeleton, Crocker finished in 16<sup>th<\/sup> place overall with a time of 32.96 seconds and speed of 98 kilometre per hour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/12AJHzWB-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-52379\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Andre Crocker of Fall River competing in Nordic Skiing. (Submitted photo\/The Crocker family)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Now, in Nordic skiing, Crocker finished just two places off the podium in the intermediate\/advanced group and brought home a fifth-place finish with a time of 7:27.5 in the 1.5 km route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Crocker is also to compete in Indoor rowing, which will be held on Sunday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI will be doing a four-minute endurance race and a one-minute sprint,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The closing ceremonies will be held on Sunday sometime after the indoor rowing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;111&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;34&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Crocker, who has his number one fans in his wife and two kids in B.C. cheering loud and proud for him, calls competing at the Invictus Games an \u201cincredible experience.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cSeeing fellow veterans and athletes from other countries compete, try something new and step outside of their comfort zones is amazing,\u201d he said in an interview with The Laker News. \u201cThe games are all about doing your best.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThere is a minimal focus medals, just on your own performance and how hard you want to push yourself.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said he has done some recreational Nordic skiing, so this was a terrific way to try and push himself to get faster and faster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSkeleton was something totally new and was an exhilarating experience,\u201d said Crocker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;115&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;192&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said competing as a member of Team Canada means a lot to him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHearing people cheering you on, when we were paraded into the opening ceremonies was something I won&#8217;t soon forget,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThere is something about being with likeminded people, and competing without judgement made the experience that much more enjoyable.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m extremely grateful to have been a part of the team.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;206&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;127&#8243;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;93&#8243;] [adrotate banner=&#8221;188&#8243;] MAIN PHOTO: Andre Crocker of Fall River (second from right, by Prince Harry) and others with the Invictus Games drops the ceremonial puck before a Leafs-Canucks game.
