HALIFAX:<\/strong> The Halifax Partnership launched a new initiative April 3 to address Nova Scotia\u2019s productivity challenges, which are affecting our economy,standard of living, and future growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe Productivity Puzzle\u201d encompasses a series of events, discussions, and research aimed at sparking a broader conversation about the importance of productivity in Nova Scotia and potential solutions to address key challenges and boost performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAs we face economic uncertainty driven by unpredictable international relations and shifting trade dynamics, there has never been a more crucial time to tackle Nova Scotia\u2019s productivity crisis,\u201d says Ian Munro, Chief Economist at Halifax Partnership. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cA recent report ranks Nova Scotia last in GDP per capita among all other Canadian provinces and U.S. states. <\/p>\n\n\n\n “Improving productivity doesn\u2019t require one big solution, but rather practical changes on many fronts \u2013 from taxation to labour to regulation – that will compound into significant improvement over time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”31″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”237″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n Keynote speaker, journalist Andrew Coyne, addressed the pressing issues of Canada’s productivity crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cFor some time, it\u2019s been clear there is something not quite right with Canada\u2019s economy, specifically in regard to economic growth,\u201d says Coyne. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIt\u2019s become conventional to talk of Canada being in a growth crisis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n “With the return of Donald Trump to power in the United States, one might almost say it\u2019s become a growth emergency.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate group=”6″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”188″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n The event also featured a panel of Nova Scotia business leaders who shared their experiences and insights on productivity, including their successes and challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n “Addressing Nova Scotia\u2019s productivity crisis isn’t just about economics; it\u2019s about our quality of life,\u201d says Wendy Luther, Halifax Partnership President and CEO. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cNova Scotia has proven we can overcome major challenges when we collaborate across sectors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n “By coming together, we can craft impactful solutions to increase productivity and build a stronger economy for everyone.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
