Photos: Dillman and Pat Healey<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>CARROLL\u2019S CORNER:<\/strong> Station 40 Dutch Settlement firefighters held a breakfast on May 3 at the Carroll\u2019s Corner community centre.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The station often ran breakfasts before COVID, but this is their first one since then.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They decided to start it again as an opportunity for the community to get together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The community always asked when they would bring them back.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/IMG_0886-768x1024.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-54100\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Councillor Cathy Deagle Gammon stopped in for breakfast. (Healey photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Lieutenant Matthew Hamer says that it was meaningful to see all the people come out and enjoy the breakfast.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;Michelle Geldart with the CCCC agreed.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s something I\u2019ve always done with my family even when I was little and it\u2019s a great way to pull the community together\u201d says Geldart.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;Geldart does the bookkeeping, and breakfast was her first real project that she\u2019s worked on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She said she couldn\u2019t have been happier about the turnout.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;218&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;126&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By approximately 9:30 a.m., roughly 80 people enjoyed their breakfast with the fire department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Whether that be family, friends, or just people who heard about the event.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;There was a wonderful assortment of breakfast foods including bacon, eggs, sausage, pancakes, toast and even hot maple syrup.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With the amazing turnout the fire department plans to have these breakfasts more often and bring the tradition of them back for Station 40.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/IMG_0823-1024x768.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-54101\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Serving up breakfast.
