{"id":55628,"date":"2025-05-12T12:26:32","date_gmt":"2025-05-12T15:26:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelaker.ca\/?p=54397"},"modified":"2025-05-12T12:26:32","modified_gmt":"2025-05-12T15:26:32","slug":"inclusive-sport-highlighted-unified-hoops-shs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/?p=55628","title":{"rendered":"Inclusive sport highlighted at Unified hoops tournament at SHS"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;238&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;111&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>LOWER SACKVILLE:<\/strong> Unified athletes from across Nova Scotia converged in Lower Sackville on Friday for an all-day event of playing hoops capped off with a meal and getting to know one another a bit more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At Sackville High, teams from the Canso area right down to the Annapolis Valley and points in between brought their Special Olympic athletes for some games of basketball. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The games were followed by a dinner and then organizers arranged a dance for the teams and its athletes, for those that were able to stay and attend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The day of inclusive sport celebrated the power of sport to unite students of all abilities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/IMG_4000-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-54403\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Some of the Unified basketball volunteers welcoming the athletes at Sackville High.
