HALIFAX STANFIELD AIRPORT:<\/strong> With balloons surrounding the food court and a bicycle nearby, Halifax Stanfield Airport and WestJet announced the airline\u2019s new non-stop service between Halifax and Amsterdam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With dignitaries from the airport, WestJet, the province, and Discover Halifax in attendance, and delicious food that relates to Amsterdam nearby and a large crowd on hand, the excitement for the launch was clear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Halifax International Airport Authority CEO and President Joyce Carter; Christina Iversen, Head of External Affairs, WestJet; Hants East MLA John A. MacDonald on behalf of Dave Ritcey Minister of Communities, Culture, Tourism, and Heritage; and Ross Jefferson, President & CEO, Discover Halifax.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In fact, the first flight for the summer service was to be later that night on Mya 29. It marked the beginning of a six-time-weekly seasonal route that will operate through October 26.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Iverson said the new service is truly one for the record books.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNot only will today\u2019s flight mark the first ever nonstop flight between Halifax and the Netherlands it is one of six European destinations we will be serving from this great city,\u201d said Iverson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She said seeing the turnout at the announcement shows they have the support from Halifax.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhen we come to Halifax, we know we have their support,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Carter said the anticipation was high to launch the new service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s an extremely exciting day today,\u201d said Carter. \u201cWe\u2019re thrilled to be celebrating the new non-stop service from Halifax to Amsterdam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s something that we have been working on for an exceptionally long time. I\u2019m quite excited for today to be here.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The introduction of this new service is part of WestJet\u2019s most extensive transatlantic schedule from Halifax Stanfield to date, providing non-stop service to six European cities during the 2025 summer season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to Amsterdam, WestJet will also operate flights to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Barcelona, Spain \u2013 4x weekly from June 27 to September 29<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Dublin, Ireland \u2013 4x weekly from May 20 to October 12<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Edinburgh, Scotland \u2013 3x weekly from May 15 to October 13<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 London Gatwick, UK \u2013 3x weekly from April 28 to October 25<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Paris, France \u2013 4x weekly from May 16 to October 24<\/p>\n\n\n\n
