Schedule activities like gardening and walks for the early evening.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Stay cool:<\/strong> Use fans or AC, close your blinds and visit public cooling centres if needed. At night, open your windows if AC isn\u2019t available.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Find ways to cool off: <\/strong>A damp cloth or spray bottle can help cool your skin. Choose a lukewarm shower over cold, which can constrict your blood vessels and slow heat loss.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Hydrate often:<\/strong> Water is best \u2014 skip sugary drinks and juices. You can also up your water content by eating fruits and veggies like cucumber, celery, watermelon, peaches and strawberries.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Opt for grazing over a big meal:<\/strong> Smaller, frequent meals are easier to digest.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Dress for the heat:<\/strong> Light-coloured, loose clothing and sun protection go a long way. Call 9-1-1 if someone shows signs like:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Hot, dry and red skin \u2014 but no sweat\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>confusion and agitation, or fatigue\u202f\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>dizziness or fainting\u202f\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>rapid heart rate\u202f\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>nausea, vomiting, diarrhea\u202f\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>headache\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Move the person to a cool area while waiting for help. Drench the skin with cool water and fan it to reduce heat.
