{"id":57361,"date":"2025-07-30T14:35:00","date_gmt":"2025-07-30T17:35:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelaker.ca\/?p=57361"},"modified":"2025-07-30T14:35:00","modified_gmt":"2025-07-30T17:35:00","slug":"police-issue-multiple-tickets-at-scene-of-collision","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/?p=57361","title":{"rendered":"Police issue multiple tickets at scene of collision"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"alignnormal\">[metaslider id=&#8221;56506&#8243;]<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>HALIFAX<\/strong>: Several tickets were issued Wednesday morning after drivers ignored a closed on-ramp and put the lives of others, including first responders at risk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On July 29 at approximately 7:20 a.m., officers responded to a single vehicle collision on Highway 102, between exits 1A and 1H.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once on the scene, police closed the Highway 102, exit 1H on-ramp by positioning a marked police vehicle across the road with emergency lights activated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;This was done to block traffic and allow police, paramedics and firefighters to respond to the collision safely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ADVERTISEMENT: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"alignnormal\">[metaslider id=&#8221;56179&#8243;]<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:36px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"alignnormal\">[metaslider id=&#8221;56526&#8243;]<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite the on-ramp being blocked, eight vehicles drove onto the shoulder of the road to get around the police vehicle and onto the highway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ignoring officers\u2019 verbal and physical directions, the drivers entered the scene of the collision, endangering those involved and those responding to the incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The vehicles were all stopped and 15 summary offence tickets were issued, including eight for failing to obey a peace officer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The fine in Nova Scotia for failing to obey a peace officer is $237.50.
