{"id":57470,"date":"2025-08-06T15:30:00","date_gmt":"2025-08-06T18:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelaker.ca\/?p=57470"},"modified":"2025-08-06T15:30:00","modified_gmt":"2025-08-06T18:30:00","slug":"summer-clash-250-langille-gilby-hall-expecting-tough-competition-on-track","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/?p=57470","title":{"rendered":"SUMMER CLASH 250: Langille, Gilby, Hall expecting tough competition on track"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"alignnormal\">[metaslider id=&#8221;56560&#8243;]<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>SCOTIA SPEEDWORLD:<\/strong> Two local up-and-coming Pro Stock drivers from East Hants are ready for a weekend they had marked on the Fort Garry Industries Pro Stock Tour schedule once it was released.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Summer Clash 250, presented by Atlantic Tiltload and Superior Foundations in support of Brigadoon Village, is set to take the green flag at Scotia Speedworld near Halifax Stanfield Airport on Saturday afternoon. Action kicks off at 4 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Qualifying will take place Friday night as part of the Bay Equipment Rentals Weekly Racing Series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Braden Langille of Shubenacadie and Gage Gilby of Enfield are looking forward to putting on a show against some of the best drivers in Canada at their home track. Twenty-four drivers have registered to hit the track for the big race.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s always cool getting to race so close to home in front of a big crowd,\u201d said Langille in an interview with The Laker News.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Summer Clash is always such a great event, and this year will be no different.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"alignnormal\">[metaslider id=&#8221;56511&#8243;]<\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/DSC_0181-1024x681.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-57527\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Gage Gilby comes out of turn four at Oyster Bed Speedway. (JT Racing photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Gilby, who wheels the no. 25G CKG Elevator hot rod, echoed his competitors\u2019 statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re taking everything we have learned at Scotia and trying to put it all together,\u201d said Gilby. \u201cWe know at the 250 there will be a lot of great competition so just happy to be racing with the group of talented racers from around here.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Langille said for Legend cars, Scotia Speedworld has been good to him. In a late model, it hasn\u2019t been the case just yet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe just need to keep our heads down and keep working towards the goal of winning,\u201d said the driver of the no. 26 Coldstream Chilly Pops machine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis weekend will be lots of laps and a good momentum builder.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gilby said he\u2019s more focused on getting satisfactory results than points racing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMy goal is to go and win but our team will try to better our result from last year,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"alignnormal\">[metaslider id=&#8221;56509&#8243;]<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"alignnormal\">[metaslider id=&#8221;56506&#8243;]<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Langille said for him a good race weekend will be one where he does all 250 laps and finishes on the lead lap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHopefully, I can be up front to contend for a top five at the end of the race,\u201d he said. \u201cI want to win, but there are a lot of good cars in the field, so we just have to be there at the end and hope it all falls into place.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Chilly Pop car design, unveiled at the IWK 250 at Riverside, has been one that has won over fans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe outreach from the fans was something I would never have imagined,\u201d said Langille. \u201cIt\u2019s something different in the sport at a time when we need some spark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI&#8217;m super glad we got to turn some heads and highlight one of our supporters. I can\u2019t say enough thank you&#8217;s to both Xander Sign Group and Coldstream Clear for putting it all together.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"alignnormal\">[metaslider id=&#8221;56376&#8243;]<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the experienced drivers Langille and Gilby will be up against at Scotia vying for the victory is current points leader Cory Hall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hall, who has been dominant on the tour with four wins in five races, said there\u2019s always a certain expectation he places on himself regardless of how the season is going.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cLast year was frustrating as it seemed we just couldn\u2019t get ahead on Ashton,\u201d said Hall in an interview earlier this week. \u201cNow the rolls are reversed a bit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve never raced for points, so it\u2019s going to be a shift in how I\u2019ll have to race as we get down closer to the end. But for now, it\u2019s all about winning to keep extending the gap.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said there will be a lot of non-full-time cars looking to grab the win so the result will all come down to racing smart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTrying to navigate that, along with the full-time guys will be tricky,\u201d said the no. 83 driver.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI think our car has the speed, but with Craig Slaunwhite and some of those guys showing up it\u2019ll be a tough one.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other local drivers expected to start the Summer Clash 250 include: Steve Lively of Shubenacadie in the no. 30; and Marty Prevost of Fall River in the no. 11.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tickets are now available for the weekend.
