{"id":57549,"date":"2025-08-09T09:30:00","date_gmt":"2025-08-09T12:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelaker.ca\/?p=57549"},"modified":"2025-08-09T09:30:00","modified_gmt":"2025-08-09T12:30:00","slug":"gas-taxes-fueling-high-pump-prices-across-nova-scotia-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/?p=57549","title":{"rendered":"Gas taxes fueling high pump prices across Nova Scotia: Report"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"alignnormal\">[metaslider id=&#8221;56506&#8243;]<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>HALIFAX, NS:&nbsp;<\/strong>The Canadian Taxpayers Federation is calling for gas tax relief after releasing the 27th annual Gas Tax Honesty&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.taxpayer.com\/media\/gas-tax-honesty-report-ctf-2025.pdf\">Report<\/a> that shines a light on hidden taxes drivers pay at the pumps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOver a third of the price Nova Scotians pay at the pump is taxes,\u201d said Devin Drover, CTF Atlantic Director. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBoth Prime Minister Mark Carney and Premier Tim Houston need to cut their taxes on fuel that are making life more expensive.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Drivers in Nova Scotia are paying about 48 cents in federal and provincial taxes per litre of gasoline when they fill up, according to the CTF\u2019s Gas Tax Honesty&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.taxpayer.com\/media\/gas-tax-honesty-report-ctf-2025.pdf\">Report<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This means for a 64-litre fill up, just gas taxes cost drivers $30.57.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"alignnormal\">[metaslider id=&#8221;56179&#8243;]<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"alignnormal\">[metaslider id=&#8221;56526&#8243;]<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The federal gas tax costs 10 cents per litre.
