ANNAPOLIS COUNTY:<\/strong> A mandatory evacuation has been expanded in Annapolis County as the Long Lake wildfires continue to grow due to the extreme fire conditions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Department of Natural Resources said On X (formerly Twitter) that the wildfires complex is still out of control and likely to grow beyond current estimated 3,255 hectares with extreme fire conditions today. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“All efforts are being made to save homes,” the note on X said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The mandatory evacuation is for Hwy 10 and all streets around Trout, Zwicker and East Lakes, New Albany; Old Liverpool Rd, Che-Boag-A-Nish Rd and all West Dalhousie Rd in Albany Cross.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It also includes West Dalhousie, Annapolis Co. Morse Rd – Thorne Rd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Expanded area from civic #571 to 1073 Morse Rd and civic #’s 4272 and 4291 on Thorne Rd. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Avoid the area if not affected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Evacuees must check in at Emergency Reception Centre at Bridgetown Fire Department, 31 Bay Rd. Information: 1-833-806-1515 (do not call 911 unless emergency). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Incident command post is relocated and operating in Bridgetown. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Same air and ground crews continue to focus on West Dalhousie area while heavy machinery works on flanks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

DNR said that the wind is pushing fire toward West Dalhousie area, air and ground resources focusing efforts there. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aircraft include six helicopters, six planes plus bird dogs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Firefighters include 56 DNR, 62 Ontario and 54 local volunteer firefighters. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Heavy machinery still working on flanks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

An update is expected on Sunday evening. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
