{"id":58395,"date":"2025-09-12T08:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-09-12T11:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelaker.ca\/?p=58395"},"modified":"2025-09-12T08:00:00","modified_gmt":"2025-09-12T11:00:00","slug":"province-helping-women-led-businesses-adopt-digital-tools","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/?p=58395","title":{"rendered":"Province helping women-led businesses adopt digital tools"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"alignnormal\">[metaslider id=&#8221;56501&#8243;]<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>HALIFAX:<\/strong> Women-led businesses in Nova Scotia are getting more support to adopt digital tools to help them grow their businesses, be more efficient and gain long-term resilience.<br><br>The province is investing $544,200 in the Centre for Women in Business\u2019s EDGE (Experimentation, Design, Gain and Evolve) initiative, which helps entrepreneurs outside the tech sector add tools such as automation, data analytics and digital marketing.<br><br>The investment in the centre, at Mount Saint Vincent University, is one of nine through the Community Economic Development Fund, which supports projects that have a broad impact on a sector or region.<br><br>\u201cThe Centre for Women in Business is all about making women\u2019s business dreams come true through practical advice and training,\u201d said Leah Martin, Minister responsible for the Advisory Council on the Status of Women, on behalf of Colton LeBlanc, Minister of Growth and Development. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis investment will help the centre support more Nova Scotian businesswomen in building successful businesses today and in the future by encouraging experimentation and innovation using digital technology in our ever-changing economic environment.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"alignnormal\">[metaslider id=&#8221;56526&#8243;]<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:35px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"alignnormal\">[metaslider id=&#8221;56376&#8243;]<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Non-profits, industry associations, sector organizations, social enterprises, municipalities, academic institutions and other organizations that benefit the public were eligible to apply for support under the Community Economic Development Fund. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other groups receiving investments include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; New Dawn Enterprises, for the Cape Breton Island Centre for Immigration; $450,000<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Cape Breton Partnership \u2013 design cube project; $213,625<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Historic Sherbrooke Village Development Society \u2013 steel storage facility; $152,500<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Cape Breton Centre for Craft &amp; Design \u2013 support for the wool craft economy; $150,000<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Centre for Local Prosperity \u2013 support for local procurement; $105,700<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&#8211; <\/strong>Lake Charlotte Area Heritage Society \u2013 Memory Lane upgrades; $87,531<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; Pictou County Partnership \u2013 asset study; $78,313<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211;
