SOUTH MAITLAND: <\/strong>The Fundy Tidal Interpretive Centre is proudly home to one of Nova Scotia’s Treasured Wetlands. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Join them on Wednesday, September 17 to learn all about this unique ecological habitat with local experts!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Free, family-friendly activities including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Guided talks and wildlife spotting
– Critter dipping – find out what kind of critters call our marshy area home!
– Try the “I Spy Challenge” to see how many species you can find along our wetland trail!
– Snacks & fun giveaways to take home with you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A sneak peek about our wetland: there are two different kinds of marshes teeming with biodiversity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On one side of the river is a salt marsh, full of salt marsh cord grass, and salt water fish like gaspereau and mummichog. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The marsh also helps protect the river\u2019s shoreline from those high Fundy tides and strong waves. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the other side of the road, behind an old agricultural dike, is a freshwater marsh, restored by Ducks Unlimited Canada in 2001.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
