ENFIELD\/GRAND LAKE:<\/strong> A 46-year-old man whose last known address is listed as Oldham has been charged for theft of a truck and trailer along with other offences.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On September 11, at approximately 10:06 p.m., RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment responded to a theft of a work truck and flatbed trailer that had just occurred at the Enfield Irving Big Stop on Hwy. 2 in Enfield.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Responding officers learned the occupants of the work truck had gone into the gas station and a man got into the truck and drove away with the trailer in tow, at a high rate of speed.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The owner of the truck advised it was equipped with OnStar which allowed officers to track the truck\u2019s live location.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officers were directed to the area of Jackson Dr. in Wellington. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Upon arrival, the man driving the stolen truck, fled the area at a high rate of speed,” a police spokesperson said. “Officers followed and authorized OnStar to enable the slow-down function.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A local resident said the suspect hasn’t lived in Oldham for 20-plus years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The stolen truck and trailer came to a stop in the 5500 block of Hwy. 2, Grand Lake, and the driver, 46-year-old Adam Joseph Dunford, was safely arrested.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Evidence gathered by officers suggested Dunford was impaired. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dunford failed a roadside screening device and was transported to Lower Sackville RCMP Detachment where he provided breath samples of 70 mg% and 60 mg%.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dunford is charged with:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Mischief over $5000<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Flight from a Peace Officer<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Operation while Prohibited<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Failure to Comply with Probation Order<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    He appeared in Dartmouth Provincial Court on September 12. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Dunford remains in custody and was due to appear in court again on September 18.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
