DARTMOUTH:<\/strong> Since the mandatory Stage 1 water restrictions were implemented for the Lake Major supply area on September 10, Halifax Water has seen a nine percent decline in overall consumption.\u202f\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Halifax Water is encouraged by the public\u2019s response and respectfully asks everyone to do their part to conserve water where they can. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As these dry conditions persist and with little rain in the forecast, all residents and businesses supplied by the Lake Major Water Supply Plant must follow mandatory Stage 1 water conservation measures until further notice.\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This impacts water service for the communities of Dartmouth, Burnside, Cole Harbour, Westphal, North Preston and Eastern Passage (see attached map for affected service areas).\u202f\u202f\u202f\u00a0\u202f\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Customers may use this interactive map to determine if they are serviced by the Lake Major water supply.<\/a>\u202f\u202f\u202f <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a reminder the following activities are prohibited under mandatory Stage 1 conservation:\u202f\u202f <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00b7       Watering lawns, ornamental gardens\/trees\u202f\u202f\u202f <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00b7       Washing vehicles.\u202f\u202f\u202f\u202f <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00b7       Filling hot tubs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00b7       Watering golf courses.\u202f\u202f <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00b7       Bulk Fill Stations serviced by Lake Major will be closed\u202f\u202f <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Residential and commercial customers are reminded to adhere to these measures.\u202fFailure to do so may result in a warning, a non-compliance fine, or suspension of service. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

These mandatory measures have been implemented to help reduce demand on Lake Major and delay the need for a temporary alternative pumping solution.\u202f\u202f\u202f <\/p>\n\n\n\n
