FALL RIVER:<\/strong> An 80-year-old man from Lower Sackville has died following a single-vehicle collision on Hwy 102 at Exit 5 on Oct. 2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

RCMP say that at approximately 3 p.m. RCMP officers, EHS and fire services from Station 45 Fall River and Station 41 Waverley responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash on Hwy. 102 at Exit 5.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Officers learned a Jeep Compass was travelling southbound on Hwy. 102 when it went off the road, over the guardrail, and into Lake Thomas,” police said in a release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Witnesses made efforts to assist the driver, and lone occupant, of the Compass which was submerged. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00a0Fire services extracted the driver, an 80-year-old man of Lower Sackville, who was located deceased.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An RCMP collision reconstructionist attended the scene along with the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team, to assist with the ongoing investigation.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The on-ramp to Hwy. 102 southbound at Fall River was closed for several hours but has since reopened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
