RIVER GLADE, N.B.:<\/strong> Ashton Tucker capped off a dream season in style Saturday night just a couple hours away from his northern N.B. hometown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tucker powered his No. 2 White Lightning Auto Centre Chevrolet to victory, clinching his first Fort Garry Industries (FGI) Maritime Pro Stock Tour championship at Petty International Raceway, near Moncton, N.B.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Miramichi driver pocketed $15,000 for the win and etched his name into the record books as the first New Brunswick\u2013based driver to win the Tour title since Shawn Tucker of Fredericton won it 15 years ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once Tucker got out front of Jarrett Butcher of Enfield on lap 88 he set sail for the checkered flag in front of a packed grandstand and the jubilant Brad Silliker Motorsports crew.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt was just an awesome year,\u201d said Tucker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Enfield\u2019s Butcher finished second with Cory Hall rounding out the podium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shubenacadie\u2019s Braden Langille in the no. 26 Coldstream Clear Chill Pops machine and the no. 25 of Ryan VanOirschot of Antigonish completed the top five.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI was kind of nervous about mechanical issues in this race,\u201d Tucker said after the victory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBut we just came and whooped their ass. That\u2019s an easy way to get it done.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He praised his crew and saluted a sidelined team member:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt sucks that Wayne, he\u2019s a head guy on this team, can\u2019t be here. He\u2019s had a few little health issues and has been in the hospital, so we\u2019re definitely thinking of him.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt means a lot to have all of this Miramichi support. To win this championship is pretty damn cool.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Petty win allowed Tucker to finish 34 points clear of Cory Hall to claim the 2025 title, with Jarrett Butcher third in the final standings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tucker entered the finale with a 23 point cushion over Hall.<\/p>\n\n\n

Butcher, Stephen Lively (Shubenacadie, NS), Tanton Wooldridge (Summerside, PE) won their respective Atlantic Tiltload heat races, which set the 23-car field for the Mr. Lube + Tires 150.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Langille continued his late season charge as he fell just one spot shy of a podium after a tough battle with Hall, to finish fourth in his first season back in a few years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was the second last car left on the lead lap; just five cars finished on the same lap as Tucker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gage Gilby of Enfield in the 25G battled a tight car all race long and finished in ninth place, one lap down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lively came home in 11th<\/sup> place in the no. 30 after starting on the pole for the third race this season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
