{"id":59153,"date":"2025-10-09T07:30:00","date_gmt":"2025-10-09T10:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelaker.ca\/?p=59153"},"modified":"2025-10-09T07:30:00","modified_gmt":"2025-10-09T10:30:00","slug":"nova-scotia-grief-alliance-to-host-provincial-grief-symposium-nov-18","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/?p=59153","title":{"rendered":"Nova Scotia Grief Alliance to host provincial Grief Symposium Nov. 18"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"alignnormal\">[metaslider id=&#8221;56501&#8243;]<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>HALIFAX:<\/strong> The Nova Scotia Grief Alliance (NSGA), co-led by the Nova Scotia Hospice Palliative Care Association (NSHPCA) and Nova Scotia Health, announced it will host the first annual Nova Scotia Provincial Grief Symposium on National Grief and Bereavement Day, November 18.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The theme of the symposium is \u201c<em>Compassion in Action<\/em>.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It highlights the need to recognize grief as a universal human experience and to turn empathy into practical supports that help Nova Scotians. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The theme emphasizes moving beyond awareness to achievable, meaningful action within communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"alignnormal\">[metaslider id=&#8221;56376&#8243;]<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The symposium will take place at the Old Orchard Inn in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, and will bring together community organizations, healthcare providers, and those working in grief support from across the province to share knowledge, strengthen networks, and deepen collective responses to grief and loss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis symposium is an important opportunity to connect as a province and reflect on how grief touches families and communities in every corner of Nova Scotia,\u201d said Tim Guest, Executive Director of NSHPCA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are pleased to support the NS Grief Alliance in building stronger, compassionate responses to loss across the province.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBy bringing together people who help others through grief and loss, we create opportunities to share and learn from each other,&#8221; said Lindsay Sutherland, Director Policy and Planning with Nova Scotia Health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"alignnormal\">[metaslider id=&#8221;56526&#8243;]<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:35px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"alignnormal\">[metaslider id=&#8221;56514&#8243;]<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;By doing this, we can build on our existing strengths to better support Nova Scotian.
