That\u2019s why we\u2019re providing financial support while residents are displaced from their homes.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"alignnormal\">[metaslider id=&#8221;56526&#8243;]<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:35px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"alignnormal\">[metaslider id=&#8221;56376&#8243;]<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>In keeping with the Long Lake wildfires in August, provincial support is available for Kings County residents displaced from their primary residence based on the number of days evacuated:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; four to seven days \u2013 $500 per adult (18 and older); $200 per minor<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; eight to 14 days \u2013 an additional $500 per adult (18 and older); an additional $200 per minor<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; 15 or more days \u2013 an additional $250 per week per adult (18 and older); an additional $200 per minor.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/dropA6658-1024x678.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-59164\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The fire currently covers an estimated 250 hectares. (Province of Nova Scotia)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Funding will be available until the evacuation order is lifted or until the end of the wildfire season October 31, whichever comes first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The maximum amount of support is $3,000 per adult and $1,750 per minor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>People who had to leave secondary homes such as cottages and camps do not qualify for funding.<br><br>As of October 7, 353 properties have been evacuated. Given current wildfire activity, it is not known when residents will be able to go home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"alignnormal\">[metaslider id=&#8221;56509&#8243;]<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Quick Facts:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; funding will be given to those with proof of residency within the evacuation zone area<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; the program will help residents cover unexpected costs while they are displaced<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; the funding is in addition to services and emergency accommodations already provided through the Canadian Red Cross and the Municipality of the County of Kings<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; other supports to fight the wildfires have been provided through partnerships with the federal government and other provinces<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"alignnormal\">[metaslider id=&#8221;56530&#8243;]<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KINGS COUNTY: A new emergency financial support program will help residents who have been evacuated because of the Lake George wildfire in Kings County.
