{"id":59365,"date":"2025-10-15T21:07:48","date_gmt":"2025-10-16T00:07:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelaker.ca\/?p=59365"},"modified":"2025-10-15T21:07:48","modified_gmt":"2025-10-16T00:07:48","slug":"lockview-high-students-bringing-spirit-community-connection-back-to-school","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/?p=59365","title":{"rendered":"Lockview High students bringing spirit, community connection back to school"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"alignnormal\">[metaslider id=&#8221;56501&#8243;]<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>FALL RIVER: <\/strong>Lockview High School\u2019s student council is ramping up a busy fall season of events \u2014 all designed to boost school spirit and strengthen ties with the local community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Grade 12 students Dallas Francis and Aili Pearcey said the excitement kicked off with the school\u2019s Terry Fox Walk on October 15, which saw strong participation and generous donations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe had a lot of enthusiasm and a lot of donations, so we\u2019re really proud about that,\u201d said Pearcey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Next up is a movie night on October 22, followed the next day by a leadership assembly for Grades 9 and 10 featuring guest speaker Jeff Gerber.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"alignnormal\">[metaslider id=&#8221;56179&#8243;]<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"alignnormal\">[metaslider id=&#8221;56526&#8243;]<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Then, on November 6, Lockview will hold its first pep rally in three years \u2014 something the student council is especially looking forward to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s about getting people involved, showing what student council does, and just bringing back that school spirit,\u201d Francis said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ll have games, introduce sports teams and clubs, and get everyone excited again.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To close out November, Lockview is hosting a Holiday Craft Fair on November 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tables cost $30 each, and vendors are invited to sell anything handmade or homemade \u2014 from crafts to baked goods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Peracey said the idea behind the craft fair was to connect the school with the wider community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe wanted to get the community involved as much as we could,\u201d she explained. \u201cThe holidays are a great time for that \u2014 it lets people come together and also gives local vendors a chance to benefit.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ADVERTISEMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"alignnormal\">[metaslider id=&#8221;56509&#8243;]<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Francis added that the student council hopes to make their efforts more visible this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe community doesn\u2019t always know what student council does behind the scenes,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe want them to see that we\u2019re here, we care about the students, and we want to support the community too.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vendor inquiries for the craft fair can be directed to <a href=\"mailto:JTasker@hrce.ca\">JTasker@hrce.ca<\/a> or PGoora<a href=\"mailto:PGora@hrce.ca\">@hrce.ca<\/a> and a Google form will be posted on the school\u2019s website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"alignnormal\">[metaslider id=&#8221;56506&#8243;]<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>FALL RIVER: Lockview High School\u2019s student council is ramping up a busy fall season of events \u2014 all designed to boost school spirit and strengthen ties with the local community.
